Welcome
East of the city of Cape Town, lying at the southernmost tip of Africa where the Indian and Atlantic Oceans meet, lies a beautiful fertile region surrounded by mountains and sea called the Overberg. This is a truly beautiful area with a rich diversity of bird life, plant species and wild animals, majestic mountains, pristine beaches and rocky shores.
The contoured wheat barley fields have become man-made habitats for the blue crane, South Africa's national bird.
The Overberg region offers some of the best whale watching in the world, whether from land, boat or air. Southern right, humpback and Bryde's whales are best viewed in the winter and spring months (between June and November).
Visitors can explore the pristine coastline and the different meandering inland routes whilst enjoying the colourful, unique fynbos and abundance of flora and fauna. The area boasts a number of excellent seafood and traditional fare restaurants, which accompanied with a glass of wine produced in Africa's southern-most vineyards, is a treat for local and visitors alike. |
